church history

It was in July 1992 when Pastor Gloria Ann Taylor heard the voice of God calling her into the pastor ship. She said, “God told her to go and prepare his
people for his coming and instill his love within their hearts”. During this time, Pastor Taylor was attending Aenon Bible College to acquire more knowledge in
the word of God. In fact, unknowingly this was the divine hand of God preparing her to become a divine minister. She was indeed ordained and graduated with
honors.

Pastor Gloria A.Taylor continued to be a faithful and dedicated minister at her former church, while under the leadership and guidance of the late Pastor John
R. Hemmingway of Bethlehem Temple located on the Westside of Detroit. It was there she was a faithful servant as the Missionary chairperson, vice president
of the usher board, choir president/director, Sunday school teacher, altar worker, kitchen-aide committee and member of the clean-up committee.

The Lord answered Pastor Taylorʼs request in allowing her to get real life experiences in pastoring a church. For instance, Elder John R. Hemmingway began to
take Pastor Taylor in on special cases to discuss o􀁻icial church business while being utilized in baptizing many souls when her Pastorʼs arm became too weak
to do so. She began to take notice of everything Elder Hemmingway did and said to soon knowing why. In fact, shortly a􀁼erwards Elder John R. Hemmingway
had taken ill and le􀁼 Pastor Taylor in charge of the church services where she remained a faithful servant until God led her to start her establish her own church
as the Pastor.

On December 19, 1993 Pastor Taylor was led by God to start a church in the basement of her home. The Church was named Shalom Temple Church of Apostolic
Faith with initially three members; Pastor Gloria Taylor, her husband Co. Pastor Booker T. Taylor and Sis Rhonda Lee her daughter. This is where Pastor Taylor
held full services while continuing to preach/teach fiery messages under the leading of the Holy Ghost. She would o􀁼en tell her family, “Put on your high heels,
put on your neck tie, and dress up in your very best, even though we are in the basement, this is still the House of God.”

During the development of the basement ministry, there were souls saved and baptized in Jesus name where some were filled with the Holy Ghost in which
were known as the “basement saints” within the first two weeks of starting the church

Shalom Temple church members went on its first thirty day consecration for guidance and direction on their next move of God. As a result, Pastor Taylor went
looking for a church building. She desired an a􀁻luent neighborhood, but it wasnʼt Godʼs choice. Surprisingly, only a few months passed before we were moving
out of the basement. God had plans on the eastside of Detroit at 7445 E. Palmer where the spirit of the Lord continues to dwell on this side of town.

February 6, 1994 was the continuance of Godʼs greatness and favor he has bestowed upon Pastor Taylor for being a faithful servant to his people down through
the years. During the first year God saved and reclaimed many souls for the strong foundation of faithful servants of Godʼs people. In fact, with a few women
and children and Pastor Taylorʼs family the church was able to pay the 15k owed for the property y in less than a year.

As we watched God continuance movement on Shalom Temple church and the leaders, it was now time to go possess the land. On December 1, 2002 we added
onto the ANNEX within eight years, acquired a large enclosed parking lot and purchase the property across from the church. In addition, the fellowship hall has
been recently renovated and named a􀁼er our Co. Pastor Booker T. Taylor (The B.T. Fellowship Hall). WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE!

Truly the Lord is with us, we have the favor of God, and His eyes are perpetually over Shalom Temple Church of the Apostolic Faith. Truly, this is the place where
the glory of the Lord is and the love of God is in the hearts of the people.

We plan to go to higher heights and deeper depths with the help of the Lord. Pray for us as we endeavor to do his will on this side of the vineyard
